A LETTER TO TRIBAL LEADERS.

Dear Tribal Leader,

My name is Joe Griffin, and I serve as Chief Executive Officer of Summit Carbon Solutions. Earlier this year, the company’s Board of Directors appointed a new executive leadership team to guide Summit into its next chapter. This team was selected to bring renewed focus, integrity, and collaboration to every part of our work—including our ongoing relationships with Tribal Nations.

From the beginning, Summit Carbon Solutions has recognized the importance of engaging with Tribal governments and communities in a way that goes beyond regulatory requirements. We understand and respect the importance of Tribes’ cultural, sacred and traditional values and stewardship obligations to the lands. Over the past several years, we have invited Tribal representatives to participate in safety tours, coordinated cultural resource surveys with Tribal Cultural Specialists, supported Tribal economic development initiatives, and developed educational materials tailored to Tribal communities. These efforts reflect our belief that Tribal voices must be part of the dialogue surrounding major infrastructure projects in the region.

As we continue refining our project, we’ve submitted an amendment to our permit to the Iowa Utilities Commission, and our commitment to open, voluntary, and transparent communication with Tribal Nations remains unchanged. We are dedicated to maintaining strong, respectful, and lasting relationships rooted in trust and mutual understanding. As the project moves forward, we will continue to host project webinars for Tribes that provide a forum for discussion, and I am also available meet with to foster dialogue related to the project.

Our values—to protect, to innovate, to communicate, to invest in shared opportunity, and to act with integrity—will guide every decision we make as we move forward.

Thank you for your continued engagement and for the leadership Tribal Nations provide in preserving Tribal heritage and advancing shared prosperity across our region.

Sincerely,

– Joe Griffin, CEO
